Easy Homemade Lavender Soap Recipe –Made with Lavender Essential Oil

This is one homemade gift idea that is easy and is guaranteed to be loved by its recipient! Plus you are making these the easy way melt and pour soap. This natural soap is so pretty and when using lavender essential oil, it smells absolutely amazing.If you’ve never tried any easy melt and pour soap recipes, then this is the perfect one to start with.
Supplies Needed for Homemade Lavender Soap:
- 2 lb block of Shea Butter Soap Base (Goat’s Milk soap base is also just as great!)– this is enough for 12 bars
- Silicone Soap Molds
for 12 bars - Pure LavenderEssential Oil (You can use soap fragrance oils, but I like to make natural lavender soap. You can even purchase organic lavender oil if you prefer.)
- Dried Lavender Buds or Flowers (I have my own lavender plant where I get my dried lavender buds from. But you can always buy some as well.)
- Red & Blue Liquid Soap Colorant
- Empty dropper bottle
- Microwave Safe Glass Measuring Cup w/ Spout
- Spatula
- Decorative tape, raffia,burlap, and/or ribbon
Makes 12 bars
Creating Your Homemade Lavender Soap:
- The large block of thesoap base is smooth and silky, and it cuts easily with a kitchen knife.First, slice the soap base into strips, then cubes, and place them inside the microwave-safe measuring cup.
2.Next, melt in the microwave in 30-second increments, stirring well in between to ensure that the soap is completely melted.It tookthree 30 second heatings for each batch to 100% melt.My pyrex measuring cup was only big enough to melt half of the soap at one time, so I ended up making 2 batches out of the 2 lbs of soap base.
3.Once the soap is completely melted, add 25-30 drops of lavender essential oil.You can add more if you want your scent of lavender to be stronger.Then add about 3 tablespoons full of dried lavender flowers.You can add more or less depending on how many you want for texture.
Adding Color To Your Homemade Lavender Soap
4.You will also need about 20 drops of the purpleliquid soap color.You’ll need to mix the purple by dropping 10 red and 10 blue into its own empty dropper bottle.Again, this amount can vary depending on how bright you want your soap color to be.
5.Once all of that is stirred well, pour soap base into the soap mold and let sit for at least 45 minutes to cool.The 2 lbs of soap exactly fit to make 12 bars using this mold.
PRO TIP: If there are bubbles on the bottom of the soap after you pour, the best way to get rid of those is to spray a mixture of 50:50 isopropyl alcohol and water. That will pop the bubbles so that you will have a nice smooth bottom on each bar of soap.
6.I found some burlapand purple raffia that I had in my craft stash to wrap around the soap.While shopping at Walmart (clearance section) I stumbled upon adorable brown flower tape.I also like to use these made-over cookie tins to hold the soaps when giving them as a gift.This is great for Christmas, Mother’s Day, teacher gifts – so many possibilities with this! 🙂
